Engaging and Amplifying Student Voice
Building on the importance of oral language in culturally responsive teaching, participants will explore instructional methods applicable to various grade levels that expand student participation in whole class and small group discussions. Particular attention will be paid to scaffolds and protocols designed to maximize opportunities for students to produce language and experience equity of voice in the classroom.
Assess their formal and informal routines for student participation in the classroom
Understand how expanding student voice impacts students’ ability to develop oral language, including for students learning English as a second language.
