Description

A highly skilled mentor is key to providing new teachers with a strong induction experience that will advance their instructional practice.  In the Professional Learning Series (PLS) for Mentors, participants learn the critical knowledge, skills, and tools to initiate and maintain effective mentoring relationships with novice teaches that result in instructional growth.  Mentors practice using multiple data points to asses practice and provide meaningful feedback to teachers.  The goal is to support teachers to create and sustain Optimal Learning Environments in which the diverse needs of every learner are addressed with an unwavering attention to equity and continuous academic, social, and emotional growth.

 

This fourth session in the PLSi series will focus on the following content areas:

  • Supporting Goals Through Entry Points
  • Entry Points and the Planning Conversation Guide
  • Revisiting the Observation Cycle
  • Providing Feedback:  Ways of Knowing
  • Post-Observation Co-Analysis
  • Analyzing Student Learning
  • Analyzing Beginning Teacher Practice
  • Mentoring Self-Assesment

Outcomes

  • Strategically use tools, language, and conceptual frameworks to support teachers through the Teaching and Coaching Formative Assessment Cycle
  • Use Multiple data points to assess growth and deepen teacher practice
  • Analyze data to reflect on professional practice and set next steps in sustaining Optimal Learning Environments for teachers
  • Construct and deliver strategically crafted feedback

Schedule

This training will take place on April 12-13 and April 27-28 with synchronous learning from 4:00 pm -6:00 pm each evening and approximately 30 minutes of asynchronous learning between sessions.

Rates

Workshop is $250 per person for DCNTP members; $225 per person for more than one attending from a district. That includes materials.
