are powerful agents of beginning teacher support.
Join Tom Howe, Chair of the Dane County New Teacher Center, and Tim Mommaerts, Intermediate School Associate Principal in Waunakee, for this half day workshop. It’s designed for school leaders to understand the essentials of leading induction programs that result in well-mentored beginning teachers and improved student learning.
By working closely with mentors and beginning teachers, principals influence the quality of their induction program through communication, trust, evaluation, instructional leadership, structures, and policy.
• Articulate the principal’s essential role in induction programs
• Describe a conceptual framework and identify strategies
• Assess curent site-based practices and set next steps
• Understand how effective induction programs advance the principal’s goals and strengthen the school’s professional norms and culture
