Professional Development for
For DCNTP Members
Beginning Teachers in DCNTP Member districts are invited to attend a free series of Six Beginning Teacher Standards Based Seminars. The seminar concept was originally developed by the New Teacher Center (NTC), a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving student learning by accelerating the effectiveness of new teachers. NTC’s research demonstrates that beginning teachers benefit greatly from guided learning opportunities with one another. To make our work more responsive to local needs, seminars have been modified by mentors and teachers.
These seminars will provide you with the opportunity to practice new techniques you can immediately apply in your classroom and work and learn from other beginning teachers from across Dane County. The topics are as follows and are timed to provide ideas and resources to assist you with specific needs you may face as you move through your school year:September 27, 2012 – Communicating with Parents
November 29, 2012 – Assessing Student Learning
January 10, 2013 – Introduction to the Professional Develoment Plan
