New Teacher Center’s Induction Professional Development
Wisconsin Locations
The New Teacher Center (NTC) offers a series of professional development (Teacher Induction Modules) that provide targeted professional development for mentors and induction program leaders. It was designed to support teacher induction teams through the development of comprehensive mentoring knowledge and skills, using the NTC Formative Assessment System, while building a community of learners who support each other’s growth. The Modules are sequenced, beginning with Instructional Mentoring; however, districts can select from the menu of services based upon need. Each Module is grounded in the NTC Formative Assessment System (FAS) and is complemented by FAS resources that facilitate effective mentoring practice. The modules require the purchase of FAS resource for each participant.
Each Teacher Induction Module has a specific focus and promotes the collection and analysis of field-based data, as well as provides structured time for collaborative team planning.
All Professional Development modules require Instructional Mentoring or comparable professional development as a prerequisite.

We provide a series of nine monthly forums for full release mentors throughout the year. They are typically held on Fridays from 12:30 – 3:00 p.m. and include lunch. Prior to the first September meeting of the year, full release mentors in our member districts are surveyed on the topics or Formative Assessment Tools they wish to discuss throughout the year. Then each meeting focuses on one of these topics using problem-posing, problem-solving with a coaching partner and practicing a formative assessment tool or strategy in the NTC Mentoring Padfolio. We strongly encourage Full Release Mentors to have attended the NTC Professional Development Offerings we offer locally prior to attending. However, it is not required.
